Question for anyone following me on a feed

I don't know if I have enough of a following that any of you have me on a feed, but if you do, I have a question for you?

When I obsessively edit my posts over and over (because I can never seem to see the mistakes I've made until I'm reading the post on my blog page instead of in the editor, and I'm also incapable of finding all the mistakes and then correcting them at the same time) do I spam your feed readers with the same post over and over again?

If so, I'll be making a concerted effort to edit my posts diligently before actually posting them.

  1. Hey,

Yes I have you in my feed. :)

That's a good question (or two). One thing I do is, when I'm done editing my own post, I preview it (I don't know if Blogger lets you do that; Wordpress does). This lets me see the post as it looks on the actual blog. Invariably I find several errors, I go back and fix them, and all's well.

Or not. Sometimes I STILL miss something, and I have to go back and fix it. I put my own blog in my feeder so that I can read it in a more plain format (not because I'm vain LOL), and have found errors that way and fixed them (cursing myself for letting them get that far along the way). What I've found is that, when you update your post, the feeder is updated, but there aren't duplicate posts.

    Hope this helps!

  2. Your posts have only shown up once on my reader. I'm using the google app for the iPhone. No problems here. Thanks for your efforts to entertain and inform.

  4. I haven't gotten any duplicates with Google Reader--it simply updates your post, but if I've already read it, it doesn't re-mark it as new.

  5. Good to know. Thanks everyone for responding.

The whole thing started because I ended up with a double-post on my feed from one of the blogs I follow. I suddenly got worried that a repost due to edit would accomplish this feat. And since it's not uncommon for me to edit a post 3 or 4 times in the few minutes after I post it...yeah.

  6. Ok, I read not just yours, but MANY feeds. I only get the final edited post unless I am actively looking at your feed (any post, not necessarily the one in question) when you happen to edit it. Then I'll refresh the feed, and get nearly the same thing I had before, but with the edit. If someone edits 5 times while I am on their feed, I get 5 copies.

Does it bug me? Nope. I proofread while I read, and use my mental red pencil to fix it, and like to see what is fixed, and what is added as an afterthought.
